Why Documentation Matters
A short 1 minute explainer video.
Every visit should leave a clear record.
When you’re away from your Northern Michigan home, you shouldn’t have to rely on someone simply saying, “Everything looks fine.” Clear notes and photos give you a better understanding of what was actually observed during each visit.
Documentation is crucial on every Home Watch visit.
A Home Watch visit isn’t just about walking through your property and saying, “Everything looks good.”
There should be a detailed record of what was observed. When the visit took place. What was checked. And whether anything looked different or needed your attention.
Photos are part of that record, too. Because when you’re hundreds of miles away, you can’t see what I’m seeing. You’re relying on the information you receive.
Good documentation gives you something you can look back on. It creates consistency from one visit to the next. And sometimes, that history helps discover a change that might otherwise be easy to miss.
For me, it comes down to something pretty simple.
Show up.
Pay attention.
Document clearly.
Communicate reliably.
